Petite Ecole Internationale opened in August 2000 and
offers an immersion program entirely taught in French.
Petite Ecole Internationale is
a small and family-oriented school serving the needs of
young children (ages 2 to 5) in an environment that is
both nurturing and challenging.
The school follows the Montessori philosophy and
curriculum, focusing on the development of the whole
child. Students are involved in a wide variety of
activities, such as art, music, gardening, yoga and
cultural celebrations from all over the world.
Petite Ecole Internationale's curriculum is designed
to help your child grow to his full potential and become
a successful citizen of the world.
Our Staff:
Emmanuelle Hilland (Educational Director)
Emmanuelle Hilland is Petite
Ecole's educational director and has over 13 years of
experience in child development, teaching English,
French and general curriculum. A native from Toulouse,
FRANCE, she moved to Austin in 1995. Before the creation
of Petite Ecole Internationale, she worked for 5 years
at one of Austin's leading Montessori schools, The
Children's School, where she held a lead teaching
position. She was also responsible for the creation and
direction of the French program at The Children's
School.

Carrie
Schonaerts-Ferrucci
(Director)
Carrie Schonaerts has been with
Petite Ecole Internationale since its creation. Carrie
is a lead teacher and Assistant Director. She has lived
in France and holds a bachelors in French from
Southwestern University.

Lydie Jessin (After
School French Class Teacher)
Lydie Jessin is a native of Paris,
France, where she earned a degree in the Science of
Education from La Sorbonne. In Paris, Lydie taught
French to newcomers and English and German to local
residents. Lydie has lived in New York and San
Francisco, and has been an Austinite since 1998. In
Austin, she created and directed a bilingual preschool
program, developing the curriculum based on Montessori
principles. She also tutors children, teenagers, and
adults in individual or group lessons, and provides
translation services to local businesses
